The Gender Stereotype of Traditional Culture of Terekeme Turks in Dagestan Regions

In this article, the gender stereotypes in the traditional culture of Terekeme Turks residing inDagestan Derbent region are discussed. Dagestan is a multinational country. These nations are not onlydifferent from each other in terms of language, but also differ in their cultural, ethnopychological and specificcharacteristics and originality. Therefore, as each nation knows its own cultural values, it knows and respectsthe culture of other nations. General Cultural values hidden in that culture are the primary factors that ensurethe survival and sustainability of traditional cultures. When defining traditional culture, it is deficient withoutaddressing the gender dimension. The concept of gender is placed in the mind of the human in theirchildhood by the society. Since gender patterns are behaviorally and morally present both in the socio cultural context and in everyday life, the differences between men and women have always played animportant role in every society. The family's moral values, traditions and gender attitudes in the traditionalculture of Terekeme Turks are the most important role in the formation of a proper gender identity. Ingeneral, in traditional cultures, men have a more dominant position compared to women, whether they aremore or less developed in almost all societies. Despite diverging from traditional living spaces, thedistinction between men and women continues to support ethnic identity. We believe that addressing thetraditional culture of Terekem Turks from this perspective will contribute to the scientific world.
