Историкосравнительный анализ институциональных, социальнокультурных и политикоидео логических факторов развития биологии в России и Германии в конце XIX – первой половине ХХ в. Раскрыта динамика взаимодействия науки, власти и общества в ходе «пролетаризации», «аризации», «нацификации» и «милитаризации» биологии, изучены эволюция политики правящих элит по отно шению к биологии, борьба внутри биологического сообщества, реакция различных групп ученых на создание «идеологически корректной биологии». Выяснена роль биологии в модернизации двух стран, в установлении и функционировании тоталитарных режимов, а также прослежены изменения ценностных ориентаций и традиций биологического сообщества, тематики и дискурса биологичес ких исследований, их философских и идеологополитических оснований.
